Celebrating our Grocery Heroes
Today is Grocery Hero Day! We are extremely proud and incredibly grateful of the connection with our more than 100 grocery store partners, including Sobeys, Safeway, Save On Foods, Calgary Co-op, Superstore, No Frills, Costco and Walmart. It is a great honour to work with so many dedicated employees that understand the importance of giving back.

The Value of One, The Power of Many: Volunteering at the Calgary Food Bank

A Year Later, We Look Back…
Like many serious and monumental moments in history, many of us remember where we were and what we were doing when we realized that COVID-19 was going to disrupt life as we knew it. The Calgary Food Bank is no exception. When we look back, a year into the COVID-19 pandemic, it’s remarkable what we have been able to accomplish.
Providing food support during unprecedented times
2020 was a year like no other in recent memory as the Covid-19 Pandemic touched every single person in our community in some way. Despite the many unknowns the pandemic presented in the early part of the year, we were able to continue to support the community because of the generosity of Calgarians.
The Pandemic Did Not Deter Calgarians from Giving BIG This Holiday Season
As 2020 wound down, many of us felt it was all we could do to just hunker down and “get it over with,” but for so many kind and thoughtful people in our city, the opposite was true. The very best of who we are as a community shone brighter than ever this holiday season.
Rounding up, does it really help?
Have you ever been asked to make a donation through the till when shopping at your local grocery store? Or been asked to ‘round up’ your bill? If so, I’m sure you’ve also asked yourself, I wonder how the charity receives that money and the impact that your $2, $5 or $10 donation makes.
