Supply Chains: from production to purchasing and implications for Food Banks
Many people think of food security as the opposite of food insecurity, which refers to a household’s ability to afford the food they need. However, food security goes one step further to encompass the structure and operation of our food systems.
Victory Foundation
We’ve gotten to know the Victory Team well through their use of the Food Link and Fresh Tote Food Rescue Program, and, with so much going on for Victory Outreach, we thought it would be a good time to sit down with Operations Director Matthew Bannerman to find out more!
Working Together With Connections For Families Society
The Calgary Food Bank works in collaboration with Connections who offer great services to support parents with cognitive challenges; recognizing that with support, anyone can be a successful parent.
Spring 2022 Comfort Food
Spring report discussing client stories, partners in action, volunteer spotlight, volunteer opportunities, and help beyond food.
Working Together With Momentum
The Calgary Food Bank works in collaboration with Momentum by both referring people using the food bank to Momentum’s programs and working alongside Momentum to deliver presentations on food insecurity, food access and nutrition to program participants. Together we’re exploring new opportunities and testing new ideas and we’re excited to see what comes next in our partnership.
How Hamper Eligibility Is Determined
The Calgary Food Bank distributes approximately 400 food hampers to households experiencing food insecurity and processes over 500 requests for emergency food hampers each day. How do we manage such a high need for emergency food support?
Volunteers Needed!
Right now, we are feeding 1,000 Calgarians a day. Hundreds of hampers are being distributed to neighbours, friends and families who need food support during this incredibly trying time. Volunteers make up half of the workforce in our warehouse; they sort, build and distribute hampers.
A Glance Back
We want to reflect on our past and celebrate some incredible organizations that feed hungry people in the community throughout the year.
